Netflix plays in 720 and Prime Video in HD. Not too bad a device after the above tweaks. Disabled most Amazon stuff including OTA update. While the FireOS cannot be replaced, it can still be trimmed down. Thus there is no way to install another OS on it. The bootloader of this device has not yet been unlocked by any XDA guy. Have a chance to play with a Fire 8hd 2016. The volume up or down buttons, at least on the HD 10, also change depending on which direction you're holding the tablet. You can enable advanced boot menu in LOS to reboot directly into recovery from LOS instead of powering off and holding button combination. Adjust sound parameters to your personal preferences. Open Dolby ATMOS app (just now installed from the zip file via TWRP).ĩ. Open AudioFX app (previuosly already installed by Lineage OS) and disable it.Ĩ. Install the dap-r6.5.zip file from the folder on the device where you transferred it to in Step 2.ħ. Press Power button while holding VOL DOWN button on Fire 8HD.ĥ. Press Power button while holding VOL UP button on Fire 10HD.Ĥb. Transfer the zip file (DO NOT unzip it) to the device.Ĥa. Pre-requisites are (a) the bootloader is unlocked and (b) the recovery mode TWRP is installedĢ. I have found a fix to improve the low volume of sound on Lineage OS 12.1 and Lineage OS 14.1.
